Kinetic Prize 2011

Dorota Deptula was this year’s winner of the Kinetic Prize for her excellent performance as a PR student at the Wolverhampton University.  The awards were held on Wed, 16 Feb, 2011.

For Dorota this is a particularly remarkable achievement.  She only began learning English less than five years ago and has worked night shifts in a factory to fund her accommodation while studying at Wolverhampton.

Her third year was spent on an exchange in Amsterdam studying international communication management and completing a placement at TomTom giving her hands-on experience of PR work.

She completed several other placements during her time at The University of Wolverhampton and graduated last summer with a 2.1 honours.  As a marketing coordinator, she is now studying for her CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing at Birmingham City University. She also hopes to start an MBA in September.

“We love to work with people like Dorota who put their heart and soul into their work,” said Angela Podmore, MD of Kinetic which innovated the PR consultancy money-back guarantee.  “The majority of people, in whatever they do, just go through the motions.  Dorota’s shown she performs well above that norm and because of that, we know she’s a bright future ahead.”

The Kinetic Prize has been running for several years and a previous winner was Simon Partington. He graduated in Public Relations from The University of Wolverhampton in 2008 and after winning the Kinetic Prize went on to work at Kinetic Communications. He says of the experience, “Kinetic has given me a whirlwind of opportunities ..... and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every minute.”
